Thomas A. Blackstock, 91, of Newport News, Virginia, died on Sunday, April 21, 2024. Born in Halifax, Virginia to Lillie Salmon and Joe Boulden Blackstock, Tom was a man of deep faith who had a steadfast belief in the power of Christ’s love.
Tom was a proud graduate of Virginia Tech, where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets. He served in the Air Force for four years and was a research engineer at NASA. A longtime resident of Poquoson, Virginia, Tom cherished his adventures exploring the nation’s campgrounds, and throughout his life, continued to find joy in being surrounded by his ever-growing family.
Tom’s family finds solace in knowing that he is now reunited with his parents, brother, Ronald, daughter-in-law, Pam, and grandson, Daniel. Tom is survived by his wife of 69 years, Calista Ann Moore Blackstock; five sons, Thomas, Jr. (Jackie), Robert (Jan), David (Deborah), Gregory (Linda), and Steven (Suzanne); 11 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Eric, Katie (Michael), Rebekah (Matt), John, Beth (Matt), Claire (Sam), Jesse, Mary Alice, Brett, and Joe; and five great grandchildren, Sawyer, Adam, Lynleigh, Dean, and Eli.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 25th, 2024, with visitation one hour prior, at Emmaus Baptist Church, 814 Yorktown Rd, Poquoson, VA 23662. Burial will take place at the church cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emmaus Baptist Church.
