Jean Roberta Thompson, 91, passed away peacefully at home on February 9, 2026. She lived for many years in Northern Virginia, eventually settling in Poquoson, VA.
She is preceded in death by her mother Dura Cayton, father William Cayton, husband Rod Thompson, son David Thompson, and brother Bill Cayton. She is survived by her children Lisa (Victor) Henley, Rob Thompson, Becky (Jock) Waple, sister and lifelong best friend Lolita (Dick) Ferris, beloved grandchildren Amanda Thompson, Chloe, Jordan, & Brooke Thompson, Gavin & Grady Waple, treasured nieces Erin Mills, Caroline Ferris, Emily Cayton Culpepper and nephew Rick Ferris.
Jean was an avid reader, loved traveling & cruising, crabbing and fishing off her dock, and was a big fan of music attending several Foreigner and Eagles concerts in recent years. She had a knack for thrifting and finding beautiful bargains.
Jean worked as a claims examiner for the Department of Labor and was a longtime volunteer for the Poquoson Library. She was deeply loved and will be deeply missed. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
